On Wednesday, May 25, at the Zaječar Economics and Trade School a new kitchen for training of future chefs and caterers was officially opened. Professional kitchen machines and appliances worth 45.000 euros were provided with funds of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, through the project “Dialogue on Employment Creation, Initiative and Dual Education”. This project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. The works on the adaptation of the classroom where new kitchen is now placed, electrical installations and painting, were realized thanks to the funds of the local self-government of the city of Zaječar in the amount of 7.000 euros.

Professional kitchen equipment will enable the improvement of the quality of practical classes for young people who are being educated to work in the field of culinary and catering. In addition to the formal three-year education for future chefs, it is planned to use the equipment for non-formal trainings for the unemployed.

Official opening of the new school kitchen was attended by Boško Ničić, Mayor of Zaječar, Christian Schilling, Head of the Economic Cooperation Department in the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Daniela Funke, country director of GIZ office Serbia and Gabriela Grujić, Assistant Minister in the Sector for Dual Education of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.

After a short kitchen tour and official speeches, invitees had an opportunity to taste food prepared by teachers and students of the school.
